Dr. Seuss Themed Class Party
Everyone loves Dr. Seuss! A class party to celebrate his March 2nd birthday is sure to be a big hit with the kids. There are so many different and fun things you can do for a Dr. Seuss themed party, we've pulled together a few of our own ideas as well as some of our favorites from Pinterest.
This is also a perfect opportunity to have a guest reader come in and read a Dr. Seuss book to the class. Check out our guest reader tips before getting started.
In honor of his birthday, we kicked off the fun by reading his very own Happy Birthday to You book. Of course any Dr. Seuss book would be great - just be sure to have your guest reader practice reading out loud beforehand since it can be a bit tricky reading his books.
Our snack for the party was Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes. I made basic box mix cupcakes and frosted them with blue frosting that came in a can with the decorating tip included. Then I printed out the Thing 1 and Thing 2 graphics I found online and taped them to toothpicks. I think these were the easiest cupcakes I've ever decorated.
For some extra fun, I quickly whipped together a Pin The Hat on The Cat in The Hat game. First, I wrapped a piece of foam board in blue wrapping paper to brighten things up. Then I found a Cat in the Hat image online - cropped out the hat - and taped it to the foam board. For the final step, I printed out enough hats for each child in the class and added double sided tape to the back of the hats. Again, this was a super easy and quick game to create and the kids had fun playing.
